SoftBank to buy DigitalBridge, adding a data center deal machine to its Stargate push (techinformed.com) — Port Washington is slated to host Vantage Data Centers’ massive new “Lighthouse” AI campus, with four data centers planned and construction expected to wrap up in 2028. The project, tied to OpenAI’s Stargate program and SoftBank’s acquisition of DigitalBridge, could significantly reshape local infrastructure, power demand, and economic activity over the next few years.

THU AM News: Data center impacts on energy, water infrastructure ‘difficult to assess,' report says; Grid operator bypasses Dairyland, ATC bids for new power lines (wisbusiness.com) — Residents in Port Washington are suing the city over its use of tax-incremental financing for a proposed $15 billion data center project, raising questions about local costs and benefits. A new report also warns that Wisconsin’s growing data center boom could strain energy and water infrastructure, while grid operators and business groups debate who should build new power lines and how to control health care costs.
3. Mysterious land offers in rural Brown County raise concerns about possible data center (wpr.org) — Developers quietly offering big money for rural Brown County land have neighbors fearing a possible AI data center, similar to projects already proposed in Port Washington and Beaver Dam. Local officials in Greenleaf and Wrightstown say they’re still scrambling for details, while residents and a nearby winery worry such a project could dramatically change their small community’s character.
4. Lynn Ann Kuczmarski (rivernewsonline.com) — Port Washington is remembering Lynn Ann Kuczmarski, who was born in the city, graduated from Port Washington High School in 1972, and later served 25 years in the Ozaukee County judicial system. Family recall her love of fishing, travel, volunteering with seniors, and the deep pride she took in her daughter’s nursing career before Lynn’s passing in December at age 71.
