Arrests at Port Washington Council Meeting Stir Controversy (gmtoday.com) — Port Washington residents are pushing for a new ordinance that would require voter referendums before the city approves large tax incremental financing districts, directly targeting the massive Vantage data center project west of I‑43. Tensions over the $8 billion campus and its public subsidies boiled over at a recent Common Council meeting, where three women were arrested after repeated outbursts during public comments.
   

2. Ozaukee deputy honored for saving child's life by pulling squad car into oncoming traffic (tmj4.com) — A child’s life was saved in Port Washington when Ozaukee County Corporal Tim Whalen swerved, braked, and then used his squad car to block oncoming traffic on Highway 32. The mid‑August incident, captured on dashcam, led to a Life Saving Award for Whalen and a renewed reminder for parents and drivers to stay vigilant about child safety and road distractions.
   

3. Fresh, December 10, 2025: Google, Meta, ExxonMobil Announce Energy Company Partnerships to Fuel Data Center Growth (circleofblue.org) — Plans for a $15 billion AI data center campus in Port Washington are part of a broader Great Lakes data-center boom that’s driving huge new power demands. A major utility, NextEra, is lining up gigawatts of new generation as states like Wisconsin track rising water withdrawals, especially for power plants. Regional policymakers are also wrestling with shoreline erosion and road-salt pollution impacts on Great Lakes waters.
   

4. Scar or solution? Driftless area worries about high-voltage power line (jsonline.com) — A massive new high‑voltage power line is being debated across western Wisconsin, even as regulators separately weigh a $1.4 billion project to feed a proposed AI data center campus in Port Washington. The Driftless-area line would upgrade existing towers to carry far more electricity, sparking concern from rural landowners but support from clean‑energy advocates who say Wisconsin’s growing data centers and industries urgently need more power.
