It's 6 a.m. Somewhere: Port to Add Earlier Liquor Sales
The Port Washington Common Council is revising the alcohol sales ordinance to start at 6 a.m., two hours earlier than before, in an effort to support local businesses.

Thinking of going for a morning brewsky? You can soon head to your local Port Washington retail store for alcohol purchases starting at 6 a.m., two hours earlier than the law allowed before.
The Port Washington Common Council approved a revision to the ordinance to allow earlier sales during its meeting on Tuesday night, and Ald. David Larson said officials began discussing the concept after recent changes in sales hours in Saukville.
"It's really (to accommodate) the boaters," he said. In season, boaters will flock to Port hoping to hit the water early, but not earlier than 8 a.m. if they need to stock up on beer, first.

"The last thing we want is for people to say 'Hey, don't buy your supplies in Port, go to Saukville,'" Larson said.
Gov. Scott Walker in December signed the law that expanded the hours of beer, wine and liquor sales, according to WKOW.com. The law also gave individual municipalities the ability to decide whether to make any changes to its current hours of sale.
