- Don't dial that number: Hang-up 911 calls seem to happen often in Port Washington, and this past week there's a 3-day streak of crying wolf. Police responded to the 300 block of Regatta Drive at 6:39 a.m. Jan. 25 after a 911 call, only to find out at small child in the home had found the emergency button on the phone. Twelve hours later on Jan. 26, police spoke with a 31-year-old Port man after getting a 911 call from his cell phone. His phone had pocket-dialed the emergency number, and the man was simply on his way to work. At 8:40 p.m. that day, Police spoke to a 46-year-old Port woman who also pocket-dialed 911 on her phone while walking in the 1600 block of Parknoll Lane. Then, at 2:45 p.m. Jan. 27, a 911 call came from the , where somebody accidentally pushed the wrong button. Lessons to be learned?
