Port Police Report: Construction Worker Uses Stick to Fend Off Driver

A roundup of the latest activity from the police blotter also include high school kids intimidating younger children at Possibility Playground as well as an accidental 911 call.

A construction worker literally stuck it to the man when a Port Washington driver attempted to enter an area closed to through traffic.

Port Washington police received a call from the 29-year-old driver who said a construction worker jumped in front of his vehicle and began to strike it with a stick at 7:19 p.m. July 30.

The construction worker said the area was closed to through traffic while work was being done, but the driver said there wasn't much signage or barricades indiciating it as such.

Police warned the construction worker for her behavior towards the driver.

  • Big bullies: Police recieved a report of several teenagers at Possibility Playground intimidating the smaller children at 7:44 p.m. July 31. Upon arrival, kids were observed on top the poles that hold the swings, and about 15 high-schoolers were asked to leave.
  • Sleepy 911 call: Police responded to a residency in the 200 block of East James Drive at 6:28 p.m. July 30 after a 911 call was recieved. The 61-year-old man was found to have been sleeping, and apparently bumped the phone in his slumber.
