• Snowmobile trails open in Oneida County on Friday (wsau.com) — Snowmobilers in and around Rhinelander should know Oneida County’s funded trail system opens at noon this Friday, but Trail 51B and all lake and river trails remain closed or unsafe until properly marked. County officials stress staying on designated routes, avoiding trespassing, and checking with local clubs or the chamber for up-to-date trail conditions.

• Hodag Hoops overcomes outside struggles to down Antigo (rivernewsonline.com) — Rhinelander High School’s boys’ basketball team shook off cold outside shooting to beat Antigo 62-42 on the road, powered by strong inside play from Abe Gretzinger and Evan Shoeder. The Hodags now return home for a non-conference showdown tonight against Wausau West, coached by RHS alum Nate Lemmens, with tipoff at 7:15 p.m. at Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
