SHOREWOOD, WI β€” Three senior students at Shorewood High School, Shai Biener, Riju Dey, and Henry Heyden, are candidates for the 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholars awards, according to a news release from the Shorewood School District.

Many teens from high schools across Wisconsin have made it to the 2022 candidacy stage, alongside about 5000 from across the country. Only 600 people will make it as a semifinalist, and 161 people in total will be announced as the scholars in May, according to a U.S. Department of Education news release.

Candidates' eligibility for the program is based on outstanding performance on standardized tests like the ACT or SAT, or nomination from a school officer or from a partner recognition program.
