Community Fights Back Against Crime at National Night Out
Community anti-crime event, Atwater Beach Party and summer concert highlight the week ahead in Shorewood.

Hundreds of families are expected to show up at the Village Center on Thursday night for Shorewood's annual National Night Out.
The free event, which takes place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., will feature law enforcement and public safety demonstrations, food and prizes.Â
That's the highlight of a busy week in Shorewood, and here's a look at what else is happening:
- Get on your Hawaiian shirts and head over to the lake on Saturday for the third annual beach party sponsored by the Friends of Atwater Beach. The fundraiser for the group includes free music with plenty of delectable food, beer and drinks for sale. Here's everything you need to know.
- On Monday night, the Shorewood School District is hosting a community and parent forum on suicide prevention and teenage mental health. The session, which will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Shorewood Public Library, will feature a panel discussion with area mental health experts.
- There will be lots of funk — and apparently a little tweed — at Wednesday's free Summer Sounds concert at Hubbard Park. The concert by Tweed Funk runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket, but no booze, please. However, adult beverages will be sold at the concert.
- It's a sure sign that summer is about over: Registration at Shorewood High School and Intermediate School takes place on Thursday and Friday. For details, visit the Shorewood School District's website or call your school.Â

- Help out the Ronald McDonald House by attending the "Rock The House" concert at 7 p.m. Friday at the Turner Ballroom in downtown Milwaukee.  The fundraiser will feautre DJ Jimmy Cababa and Christopher’s Project, featuring Debbie Allen. - Families will have a rare chance to camp out a the Milwaukee County Zoo this week with the "Snooze at the Zoo" event on Wednesday and Thursday night. The event includes a picnic buffet, a s'mores campfire, a continental breakfast in the morning and free admission to the zoo the following day. The zoo's website as all the details.
