SHOREWOOD, WI — A new clinic dedicated entirely to providing COVID-19 testing is planning to open soon at 2223 E. Capitol Drive in Shorewood.

The location is a branch of "Center For Covid Control," a business based in Rolling Meadows, Illinois that also has locations in Milwaukee. A representative for the location told Patch the last step is approval from the Plan Commission Tuesday before the clinic opens.

The location plans to offer free PCR and rapid testing. With rapid tests, results can come back in 15 minutes. PCR tests typically take a couple of days. No appointments are needed, in fact, the location plans to only accept walk-ins. Insurance is not required, but those that have it are asked to bring it with them.

Anyone over 18 can get a nasal swab for rapid or PCR testing. Children 2-12 are tested with a cheek swab. The clinic will not test anyone under two, a spokesperson said. Visitors over 18 are required to bring a photo ID, but those under 18 can rely on their parents with their ID.

A spokesperson said the service can work for those who need a test done for a concert, travel, or just plain out of a concern for the virus.
