Crime Time: Construction Site Thefts, Attempted Home Burglary

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Contractors working near the former Riverbrook Resturant, 1111 E. Capitol Dr., have fallen victim to a couple thefts in the last week.

Some time between May 5 and Sunday, two locks were cut and several tools stolen from a United Contracting Inc. trailer parked on the Riverbrook site. Police said they are still gathering information on the value of the tools stolen.

And Tuesday, landscaper working on East Capitol Drive told police he observed a man grab a Werner ladder from behind the former restaurant, jump into a white Dodge pickup truck and take off. Contractors working on the site left for only a couple minutes only to come back and find the ladder gone, according to police.
