Crime Time: Retail Theft, Car Break-In

A 19-year-old Platteville man was arrested for retail theft Wednesday after he and a 25-year-old Milwaukee man were spotted by staff just a couple hours after allegedly stealing liquor from the grocer.
Police say the two man walked out of Pick ‘n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., without paying for a bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila and then returned later that same day, and were spotted by Pick ‘n Save staff who called police.
Both of the men are believed to be connected to other retail thefts in Shorewood, police say.

Also in the police report:
- An unlocked car parked in the 1300 block of East Capitol Drive was illegally entered and a purse stolen Monday. The stolen beige woven purse contained a wallet and several other items. Police aren’t sure what the values of the items stolen are.
- A Shorewood man called police after receiving a call claiming he won a new car and large amount of cash. He was told to wire $300 through Western Union in order to claim the prizes. Police advised him not to send the money.
- A 2-liter bottle of Tanqueray gin was stolen from Pick ‘n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., Wednesday. A suspect was observed on surveillance video placing the bottle in a large black purse and exiting the store.
- A Shorewood man called police after he said his girlfriend observed his sister throw a brick through the back window of his van on Monday. The man later told police he would handle the situation without police involvement.
- A $600 black iPhone 16 GB was reported stolen from the boy’s locker at ’s, swimming pool, 1701 E. Capitol Dr.
