Crime Time: Short-Lived Joyride; Man Ditches Cab Fee

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police report.

Police say they’re not sure whether two Shorewood residents were voluntarily taken on a short-lived joyride Saturday with a unknown woman in a gray station wagon.

The two victims told police a woman approached them while they were standing in the parking lot of , 4515 N. Oakland Ave. and told them to get in her car. They jumped in the car and were driven just a few minutes south, to the 1700 block of East Menlo Boulevard, where the driver then asked for $10 for gas. The two forked over the money and exited the car. Police say the two victims have mental health issues and could have actually taken a taxi cab ride, since they were dropped off close to their home.
