Crews Working on Patching Up Two Broken Water Mains

Some homes remain without running water in the area.

Crews continue to work on two broken water mains in Shorewood on Thursday, with some homes and businesses still without running water.

Police have reopened one lane each way in the 4000 block of North Oakland Avenue, immediately north of East Capitol Drive, after it was closed around 3 p.m.

Police say they're unsure when the main will be patched up, but the Shorewood Department of Public Works told Newsradio 620 WTMJ that he expects the water break to be repaired by 10 p.m. at latest.

As of 8 p.m., running water was restored to the area.

Severe flooding on Oakland Avenue seeped into nearby businesses basements and caused some owners to purchase bottled water to continue business Thursday, the station reported.
