Hubbard Park is About to Get Funky

Local group Tweed Funk will play the Summer Sounds concert series on Wednesday night.

Are you ready to get funky, Shorewood?

Shorewood's free weekly Summer Sounds concert series will star Tweed Funk from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Hubbard Park. The band plays classic soul and blues music from the 1960s and '70s and is headed by Shorewood's own JD Optekar.

Entering the blues, jazz and funk scene in late 2010, Tweed Funk already boasts three Wisconsin Area Music Industry awards. This year, the band has played all over the Midwest, including Summerfest, Chicago's House of Blues and Jazz in the Park.

Food and beverages are available at Hubbard Park Lodge. Some picnic tables are available for early birds, but you will probably want to bring a lawn chair or blanket just to be safe.
