𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀

I recently walked through the 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗮𝗸𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁—the area between 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗳𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻—and recorded the names of the 50 businesses that rely on the public parking lot there. Some are visible storefronts, while others are tucked away inside buildings.

How will these businesses survive 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 and, soon after, parking is further reduced during 𝗢𝗮𝗸𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in 2026?

It’s worth remembering that this parking lot was originally funded by 𝟭𝟳 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗯𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 through a 𝟮𝟬-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. They were never consulted about the sale of the lot—and they have every reason to feel aggrieved.
