Man at Center of Shorewood Standoff Now Facing Drug Charges
Marquis Chapman, the man involved in a tactical situation in Shorewood last month, was charged over the weekend with possession of narcotics with intent to deliver.

The Shorewood man at the center of a massive police standoff last month is now facing several felonyΒ drug-related charges, according to court records.
Marquis J. Chapman, 28, was charged Saturday with three counts of manufacturing or delivering heroin, possession ofΒ cocaine with intent to deliver andΒ possession of narcotic drugs β all felonies. He is due in court Monday for a preliminary hearing.
Authorities staged a drug buy in April where Chapman allegedly sold heroin, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Chapman's Shorewood apartment was searched last week, and there police found more than 20 grams of cocaine and less than 1 gram of heroin, the newspaper reports.
Dozens of police officers from 10 departments β including a SWAT team vehicle, the bomb squad and Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies wearing bulletproof vestsΒ β respondedΒ to a June 21 domestic violenceΒ incident onΒ Oakland Avenue.

The district attorney's office decided it wouldnβt fileΒ charges against Chapman in thatΒ standoff, but did charge him in connection with a February incident.
The massive police response prompted some to say Shorewood police overacted, but Police Chief David Banaszynski defended his departmentβs response following the release of a 911 call detailing Chapmanβs girlfriend saying she was being held hostage.
