McCann to Remain in Shorewood

Shorewood School Chief Blane McCann withdrew his name from consideration for a superintendent position in Columbus, OH.

Superintendent Blane McCann will remain in Shorewood and not take a school chief position in Columbus, OH after withdrawing his name from consideration, his secretary confirmed Friday.

, a suburban school district outside of metro Columbus, but secretary Kim Grady said Friday he withdrew his name from consideration sometime last week.

McCann didn’t immediately return a call from Patch.

The Worthington School District has narrowed its finalists for the superintendent position to four, according to the information released Friday on the district's website.

McCann said he was considering the move to be closer to family in the Columbus area.

The position became available March 17 after current Worthington Schools Superintendent Melissa Conrath announced her retirement. She has been school chief since January 2006.

McCann has served as superintendent of the since August 2003.
