North Shore Oktoberfest Roundup: Bavarian Bierhaus, Estabrook

At the Bavarian Bierhaus, Oktoberfest starts Tuesday. In nearby Estabrook Park, the tradition will begin at the start of October.

GLENDALE, WI β€” For Glendale's Bavarian Bierhaus, Oktoberfest starts in September. The 119th anniversary of Milwaukee's take on the traditional German festival starts at 4 p.m. Tuesday, a news release from the business said.

Beer, fish fry, music and more are planned to be the staples of this year's traditional Oktoberfest celebrations at the Bavarian Bierhaus and across Milwaukee.

It's not the only Oktoberfest celebration planned in the area this year, but for the north shore, it is the first. Find the kickoff celebration at Bavarian Bierhaus, Heidelberg Park, 700 Lexington Avenue in Glendale.

The Bavarian Bierhaus's kick-off event Tuesday will feature some fanfare:

Pat McCurdy, a Milwaukee-based musician who plays music geared to drinking and college folk he calls "patheads" is planned to be the feature act at the Bavarian Bierhaus Tuesday, the news release said. McCurdy goes on at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

A day later at 6 p.m., Friday, Glendale Alderwoman Tomika Vukovic will tap the official Bavarian Bierhaus keg, the news release said. After those events, the bierhaus will have its Oktoberfest celebration every Thursday-Sunday until the first week of October, the news release said.

Fish fry and traditional German food will be available throughout the Bavarian Bierhaus's Oktoberfest season.

Oktoberfest in Estabrook Park will start at the beginning of October, the business posted on Facebook. The festival there will feature a keg tapping, music, traditional German food and more.

Stienholding competitions, polka music and local bands are planned through each day of the plan Oct. 1-3 at Estabrook Park.
