NSFD Report: False Alarms, Gasoline Fumes, Car vs. Pedestrian Accidents

The latest reports from the North Shore Fire Department.

The responded to a total of 145 calls for service, 101 EMS calls, and 44 fire and rescue calls from Oct. 3 to Oct. 9 throughout the North Shore.

Here is a summary of the calls from Bayside, Fox Point, Shorewood and Whitefish Bay.

Bayside

  • Seared food caused a smoke detector at a home in the 9000 block of White Oak Lane to alarm Oct. 3. Firefighters had to disable the detector to silence it after it malfunctioned.

Fox Point

  • NFSD was dispatched to a car versus pedestrian accident near East Bradley Road and North Lake Drive around 11:22 p.m. Oct. 4. One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Shorewood

  • Fire officials were in Shorewood all week responding to gasoline fumes reports and conducting tests related to a fuel leak in Shorewood’s sanitary sewer system.
  • When rescue personnel arrived at a fire alarm at a home in the 3900 block of North Murray Avenue Oct. 5, they found no fire but an activated pull station. The property owner later reset the pull station.
  • NFSD responded to a car versus pedestrian accident at , 4145 N. Oakland Ave., Oct. 7. The pedestrian was bumped by a car and wasn't injured. The car left the scene before personnel arrived.

Whitefish Bay

  • A fire alarm was tripped Oct. 4 when dust from a construction site near the Whitefish Bay Library, 5420 N. Marlborough Dr., set off the alarm.
