Police Report: Car Break-ins, Teens Caught with Pot, Attempted Burglary

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Three unlocked cars were illegally entered overnight on Thursday.

According to the police report, $5 in change was stolen from a 2011 GMC Acadia parked in the 3900 block of North Harcourt Place, $5 was stolen from a 2009 Honda Accord parked in the 3500 block of 2600 block of East Shorewood Boulevard and a $350 iPod and $20 in cash was stolen from a BMW parked in the 3500 block of North Lake Drive.

  • Upon appearance of two marked Shorewood police squads Wednesday, two 14-year-old Shorewood boys fled from an alleyway in the 4300 block of North Wilson Drive. Police tracked down and arrested the boys in the 4300 block of Marlborough Drive, after police found them in possession of marijuana. They were also cited for violating curfew, trespassing and loitering.
  • Milwaukee police recovered a 1996 Acura Integra Thursday, which was reported stolen by Shorewood police July 31. The car was found in the 2700 block of North Richards Street, stripped of nearly all its working parts including the engine and transmission. The radio and tires were the only thing left, police say.
  • A back door window was smashed out of a home in the 4100 block of North Morris Boulevard Thursday sometime between 1:40 and 2:40 p.m., in a apparent attempted burglary, police say. Entry was not gained to the home.
  • A elderly Shorewood woman gave a $177 check to two teenage boys Wednesday, after they solicited donations for books for the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. They also told her they would clean her windows because they were using part of the donation to fund a trip to Maui. Whitefish Bay police arrested the same two boys recently for soliciting donations.
  • A Democracy for America campaign worker called police Aug. 8, after getting into a heated discussion with a resident in the 4400 block of North Prospect Avenue. The worker told police she was going door-to-door encouraging residents to vote in the recall election, when she got into an argument with a resident. She moved on to the next house to end the argument, but the resident followed her. The resident left after she threatened to call police.
  • A Shorewood woman phoned police for help Aug. 8 after she turned into an alleyway behind the 4100 block of North Prospect Avenue from East Olive Street and drove into a five to seven inch depression, bottoming out her car. There was construction in the area and the driver reported minor damage to the underside of the car.
  • A small U.S. flag was burned on the front porch of a home in the 4300 block of North Murray Avenue sometime overnight on Aug. 8. The flag belonged to a different home in the same block.
  • Three 16-year-old Shorewood boys were arrested for retail theft Tuesday, after police say they attempted to walk out of , 4145 N. Oakland Ave., with $7 worth of chicken wings and potato wedges without paying.
  • The manager of , 4081 N. Oakland Ave., called police Tuesday to report graffiti on the back of the store.
  • Three copper downspouts were reported stolen Wednesday from a home in the 3500 block of North Shepard Avenue. Police are waiting on a value estimate from the homeowner.

 

The above items are from reports from the Shorewood Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
