Police Report: Man Threatens Children with Knife, Claims He Has AIDS
Also in the reports: tire dumping, theft from a purse, a stolen catalytic converter and a "pickup" that didn't quite go as planned.

A man was transported to the hospital Monday after police say he brandished a knife to a group of children, "threatened to touch" others and stated he had AIDS, and then cut himself several times, while at the , 3920 N. Murray Ave.
Police say they received a report of the man showing the knife to kids in a threatening manner while cutting his left hand, and saying he would touch others while claiming he had AIDS.
When police arrived about 4:55 p.m., they witnessed the man cutting his left wrist and forearm. Police say the man wasn't cited or arrested. No one was harmed by the man.

- Police pulled over a man in the 2200 block of East Lake Bluff Boulevard Friday after he was spotted dumping four tires into a Dumpster near North Shore Funeral Home, 3601 N. Oakland Ave. The man agreed to go retrieve the tires and wasn't cited by police.
- An employee at , 2205 E. Capitol Dr., reported to police Feb. 28 that a woman grabbed a purse from the coffee shop’s employee table, took it into the bathroom and removed $196, an ATM card, credit card, perfume and body spray. Police have no suspects.
- A Shorewood man told police on Feb. 27 that he brought a woman he met at a bar back to his home in the 4600 block of North Oakland Avenue and she later stole his wallet. The victim said the wallet contained $213, a Visa credit card and driver’s license. Police have no suspects.
- A catalytic converter was reported stolen off a car while it was parked in an apartment’s underground parking in the 800 block of East Kensington Boulevard. The part is valued at $1,850.
