Police Report: Shorewood Woman's Identity Stolen, Tax Return Filed in Her Name

A Shorewood woman called police Tuesday after the Internal Revenue Service alerted her that someone used her name and Social Security number to file a tax return.
She told police she called the IRS after she hadn’t received a tax refund was informed her return was under investigation.
Someone had apparently used her information to file a single return, and had received her refund.

- A Shorewood resident phoned police Monday to report damage to the exterior mirror, radio antenna and right front door of his car totaling $777. The damage occurred while the car was parked in the 4400 block of North Woodruff Avenue.
- Shorewood police arrested a 63-year-old Milwaukee man on a open warrant Wednesday after was pulled over in the 1300 block of East Elmdale Court for running a red light. He was cited for concealing a weapon after police found a 3½ inch knife on him.
- A $170 boy’s Trek bicycle was reported stolen Wednesday from an open garage in the 4300 block of North Woodburn Street.
