Fireworks at Tonight's School District Annual Meeting?
Residents are expected to be out in full force as the district's tax levy, or the funds the schools will collect through property taxes, is finalized after a vote by residents.

School officials have been working on and could finalize the tax levy Tuesday night, but not before residents have a chance to vote.
The Library looks to be a packed house, with a Facebook page forming, asking residents to attend and help stop “anti-tax conservatives…prevent the adoption of the tax levy to fund education in Shorewood” at the School Board’s annual meeting Tuesday night at 7.
In addition, an e-mail circulating among residents from Shorewood Action for Education (SAFE) calls for help combating members of the , who plan to flood the meeting and vote down the district's funding.

However, Shorewood CRG President Kelly O'Brien says his group plans to participate like everyone else at tonight's meeting and his group doesn't plan to vote anything down.
"We aren't going to be disruptive," he said. "This is a unique process unlike anything in any level of government and we just want to be part of it."

During the annual meeting, a resident will be elected the chairperson of the meeting and lead a vote on the tax levy, the amount the district will collect from village property owners through property taxes for funding purposes.
School Board salaries and expenses will be set to a vote. Each School Board salaries are currently $1,300 for the School Board president and $1,000 for other members. Board members have allotted $3,000 for expenses while traveling and performing official duties.
Additionally, the School Board is expected to take action on a grievance policy for teachers and administrators.
