Shorewood Homeowner Surprises, Detains Teenaged Burglar

Police arrested a 14-year-old Shorewood boy Monday morning after he was caught in the act.

After a scuffle, a Shorewood homeowner was able to detain a local teenager attempting to burglarize his home Monday morning, police say.

The homeowner in the 2400 block of East Stratford Court told police he heard his doorbell ring twice around 10:35 a.m., but he wasn’t expecting visitors, so he ignored the bell.

A short time later, he heard the back door to his home open and footsteps in the kitchen. He entered the room to find the suspect rummaging through kitchen draws. He struggled with the boy, but was able to detain him and call 911.
