Elderly man sent money to Jamaica for promised lottery winnings.

An 83-year-old Shorewood man fell victim to a phone scam in which he told police Tuesday he lost more than $1,000.
After he received a phone call from a man in Jamaica who told him he had won a $1.5 million lottery and just needed to wire over some funds, the local man wired $350. The victim received a second call, during which the Jamaican man said the victim needed to wire another $150 for the lottery winnings.
The victim wired money to Jamaica five different times, totaling $1,265, until he figured out something wasn't right and called police.
