Shorewood Police Busy with Drunken Driving Arrests Over Weekend

Two were arrested for drunken driving and one cited for underage drinking in incidents on North Oakland Avenue this weekend.

Along with one driver who was under the drinking age, Shorewood police made a few drunken driving arrests over the weekend.

Late Saturday night, police pulled over a car in the 3900 block of North Oakland Avenue for speeding. After smelling alcohol coming from the inside of the car, the driver, a 20-year-old Shorewood man, was asked to perform a sobriety test and consent to a breathalyzer. While he came in under the legal limit with an .4 blood alcohol concentration, he was cited for underage drinking.

Sunday, a 37-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after initially being pulled over by police for speeding. When pulled over in the 3600 block of North Oakland Avenue around 2:40 a.m., police say they smelled alcohol on the Milwaukee man’s person and noticed his slurred speech. He failed a subsequent sobriety test and his blood alcohol content registered at .15.

Also Sunday night, police pulled over and later arrested a 23-year-old Hales Corners woman in the 4000 block of North Oakland Avenue after she was observed driving without her headlights on and police later noticed she was drunk. She failed a sobriety test and had a .14 blood alcohol content, police say.
