State Aid to Shorewood Schools Wanes 10 Percent

The district will receive $414,000 less next year or $3,624,983 next year compared to $4,039,266 received this year, according to DPI. Shorewood won't be able to make up the difference through property taxes. In fact, the district's property tax levy, which will be officially set this fall, is expected to drop from $15.3 million to $14.9 million — a 2.7 percent decrease. The district is forced to reduce its revenue by 5.5 percent under Gov. Scott Walker's 2011-2013 budget.

However, through more than $730,000 in savings as a result of Gov. Scott Walker's budget repair bill savings, more than $610,000 from , around $305,000 from staff turnover and other factors.

DPI’s data is only preliminary and actual aid figures will not be known until October after final enrollment and other information is calculated.
The DPI estimates are derived from two areas: the and the relevant school district data from the 2010-11 school year. These include membership, shared costs and property value, according to a press release from the DPI.
