To reduce the risk of basement backups and sewer overflows the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District is installing a new 72” sewer that will connect to existing sewers on Maryland Avenue and Edgewood Avenue. The new sewer extends along Edgewood between the Milwaukee River and Maryland Avenue.

A manhole will be installed at the intersection of Murray and Edgewood. This work includes excavation, drilling, tunneling and concrete work. Edgewood Avenue will remain open in both directions, with a flagger at times. However, Murray Avenue going North of Edgewood will be closed.

The estimated closure date for Murray Avenue north of Edgewood is April 20, 2022 through Spring of 2023. The sidewalk will remain open along Maryland with a fence surrounding the construction activity. The closure will extend North of Edgewood approximately 500 feet which means access from the alley just north of Edgewood Ave to Murray Ave will be closed.
