Surf @Water is Saturday

Other weekend events include Irish Fest, Sounds of Summer and Bayshore's Chalk Art Festival.

The Great LakesΒ SurfΒ Collective is inviting the community to join them in a celebration of surfing and the Great Lakes Saturday afternoon.

The first-of-its-kind Surf @Water event will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Atwater Beach. The eventΒ will feature surf lessons, surf history lessonsΒ andΒ a film festival featuring five Great Lakes surfing films produced in the Midwest. The after party will be at Camp Bar.

Earlier in the day, aΒ group of volunteers will meet at 7 a.m. for a one-hour clean-up of the beach.Β Colectivo Coffee will provide coffee and snacks for those that volunteer.

Here's a couple other events on tap this weekend:

Sounds of Summer: Whitefish Bay's big street festival will be held fromΒ 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.Β on Silver Spring and Lake Drive, in front of Sendik's.Β The first band, playing atΒ 5:30Β p.m., isΒ Mike Mangione & The Union.Β I'm Not A PilotΒ will play at 6:50 p.m.Β Ska bandΒ Something To DoΒ will play the top slot at 8:30 p.m.Β Beer will be provided by Lakefront Brewery, and Sendik's will provide the food.

Chalk Art Festival:Β More than 65 local and national artists will decorate the streets ofΒ Bayshore Town Center with their chalk art SaturdayΒ from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.Β andΒ SundayΒ from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.Β Come check out the action and vote for your favorite piece.

Β The 33rd annual Irish FestΒ will be held Thursday through Sunday at Henry Maier Festival Park. The festival features food, dancing and 16 stages of music ranging from traditional favorites like Tom Sweeney toΒ Celtic rockers like Gaelic Storm.

The Dude Abides:Β Lebowski Fest
Β returns to Milwaukee this weekend. The movie will be screened at Cathedral Square ParkΒ after liveΒ music fromΒ Thao & The Get Down Stay DownΒ Friday night. A bowling party will be heldΒ Saturday in West Allis.Β
