Avenue Q comes to Capitol Drive — drama students will hit the stage via puppetry Friday and Saturday for a production of Avenue Q.
The modified high school edition of the Broadway musical comedy will run as planned both nights at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium, 1701 E. Capitol Dr., but after a show on Sunday was canceled, a behind-the-scenes event for children was added for 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Children will get a backstage and onstage look at the production, see the orchestra pit, meet puppet makers, and the production's music director and choreographer.
Student actors will be on hand to sing a few songs and demonstrate how they sing, dance and act with their puppets.

School district business — School leaders could approve retirement requests for a few long-time district employees and grant a 2 percent salary increase for educational aides.
The board meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at , 3830 N. Morris Blvd.
On Wednesday, the firm hired to search for a new superintendent of Shorewood schools will hold two community meetings, soliciting feedback from residents and stakeholders.
The meetings start at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. at Shorewood High School.
Search is on for new deputy chief — Officials will start the process of searching for a new deputy chief in Shorewood at a Police Commission meeting Monday night at 6:30.
The Parks Commission and Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Committee will meet on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.

Preps sports — The Shorewood boys basketball team will try to bounce back from a tough lose last week when they travel to New Berlin West on Tuesday and host Pewaukee on Friday. The Greyhounds are 10-9 (6-9) on the season.
The girls basketball squad hosts New Berlin West on Tuesday and travel to Pewaukee on Friday. They are 5-12 (4-10).
All games start at 7:30 p.m. and home games are played at , 1701 E. Capitol Dr.
The Whitefish Bay-Shorewood-Nicolet combined hockey team is slated for one match against Janesville on Thursday. The game starts at 7 p.m. The Storm play at the Kern Center in downtown Milwaukee, 1245 N. Broadway St.
North Shore bicyclists unite — , and enjoy the outdoor fire pit on the new outdoor deck at l, 3549 N. Lake Bluff winter concert  — Third and fourth grade students will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday at , 1600 E. Lake Bluff Blvd.
