Smile Club dental clinic stays open under new partnership (spmetrowire.com) — Families in Stevens Point can continue getting low-cost preventive dental care as Noble Community Clinics takes over the Smile Club inside the Boys & Girls Club’s Berard Center. The one-chair clinic will stay open while a new Main Street facility offers expanded services, all available regardless of insurance or income. The program currently serves more than 200 local children each year.

Salt shed repairs move forward after roof tear, door failure (spmetrowire.com) — Stevens Point officials are moving ahead with about $75,000 in repairs to the city’s salt shed after a roof tear spread and the main door failed. Finance Committee members say state rules and winter needs leave them little choice, and the project will likely be funded as a 2026 capital expense, possibly using leftover 2025 funds or new borrowing.

Stevens Point Common Council votes in favor of Portage County zoning requests regarding health care center (waow.com) — Stevens Point’s Common Council has approved three key zoning and land-use requests that clear the way for possible private ownership of the Portage County Health Care Center. The votes, which followed earlier support from the City Plan Commission, sparked debate over how outside ownership could affect patients, families, and employees, even as officials stressed that daily operations are expected to remain largely the same.

4. Meidl, Nancy (waupacanow.com) — Stevens Point native Nancy Gladys Meidl, born there in 1952, has passed away at age 73 after a long battle with cancer. Loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, and sisters, she is remembered for her kindness and resilience. A memorial service will be held December 20 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa.
