Community Investment Fund crosses $3 million mark (doorcountydailynews.com) — Several Sturgeon Bay sites are getting a boost from Destination Door County’s Community Investment Fund, including new accessible beach mats at Whitefish Dunes, upgrades at Rogue Theater, and trail-grooming equipment at Potawatomi State Park. These awards are part of $370,747 in new grants countywide, pushing the fund’s total impact past $3.1 million, with another application deadline coming up next week.

2. SB/S Boys Wrestlers Second at Brillion Invite (doorcountypulse.com) — Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol’s boys wrestling team turned heads by taking second place at the Brillion Invite, just five points behind the host school. Spencer Madsen earned Most Outstanding Wrestler honors and set career records, while Nate Hasenjager and several teammates delivered strong podium finishes that signal a big season ahead for the co-op squad.

3. Burst pipe leaves Sturgeon Bay church underwater ahead of holidays (nbc26.com) — A burst pipe at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay flooded parts of the building, forcing service cancellations and cleanup just before Christmas. Crews are drying carpets and clearing debris while First Baptist Church has temporarily hosted services, and it’s still uncertain whether Christmas worship can return to the damaged parish.

4. Obituary: Nancy Barker McClellan (doorcountypulse.com) — Sturgeon Bay residents are invited to honor longtime community member Nancy Barker McClellan, who passed away at home on Dec. 12 at age 83. A visitation will be held Dec. 18 at Huehns Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Dec. 19 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her family suggests memorials to Sunshine Resources of Door County in Sturgeon Bay.
