1 Taken Into Custody At Waukesha Home After Armed Robbery: Police

Police said they took a person of interest into custody at a Waukesha home on Friday afternoon after a report of an armed robbery.

WAUKESHA, WI — Police took a person of interest into custody on Friday afternoon at a Waukesha home in the 1000 block of West Cumberland Drive after a report of an armed robbery occurring earlier that morning, according to a news release from Waukesha police.

Someone told police around 5:30 a.m. that they were robbed of their wallet and other possessions by a man who showed a gun, according to the news release. Police said they confirmed that a person of interest was inside a home near Cumberland Drive and Washington Avenue, so they obtained a search warrant.

The city's SWAT team and K9 Unit responded to serve the warrant and continue the investigation, police said. The person of interest was taken into custody just before 3 p.m., according to the news release.

Waukesha Police Captain Dan Baumann noted in a statement around 4 p.m. that the scene had some continued police presence as the investigation continued but that the area was safe.
