Roundy's Shooter Identified As Wauwatosa Resident

After a man killed two workers at Roundy's Oconomowoc warehouse, he was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — Police say the man suspected of killing two workers Tuesday might at Roundy's Oconomowoc warehouse lived in Wauwatosa, according to Wauwatosa Police.

The suspect was later found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a crashed car in Milwaukee County, authorities said.

Wauwatosa Police are currently assisting the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department with executing a search warrant at the suspect's home, police said at a news conference Wednesday.

Roads near 124th and Cherry are currently blocked off by Wauwatosa police.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

The incident unfolded after 10:30 p.m. at Roundy's Distribution Center, 1111 Delafield Road, Oconomowoc, police said.

Police dispatched to the site found two people dead. A union official told The Associated Press a worker killed two of his co-workers at the distribution center.

Union stewards at the warehouse said the two men were shot in different areas of the massive warehouse, according to Thomas Bennett, the secretary-treasurer of General Teamsters Local Union No. 200. Bennett said he was unaware of any dispute between the shooter and the victims, who were all members of the union.

Police set up a perimeter to locate the suspect.

The suspect's car was found in Milwaukee County, and a pursuit ensued. The car crashed, and the suspect died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Police said there is no threat to the community and this investigation is ongoing.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation will be conducting the initial investigation of the shooting.

"We are working with Roundy's Management to safely get all employees off the premise while the investigation continues," police said.

Traffic in the area of State Highway 67 and DR was disrupted for several hours. The roads are now back open.

Round's released the following statement:

"We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred last night at our Oconomowoc distribution center. The entire Roundy’s family offers our thoughts, prayers, and support to the families of our colleagues during this difficult time.
We are cooperating with local law enforcement, who have secured our facility. Our distribution center will remain closed while the police investigation continues. We are providing counseling services to our associates. To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation we are referring questions to the Oconomowoc Police Department."

The General Teamsters Local Union No. 200 released a statement on social media.

"General Teamsters Local Union No. 200 has heavy hearts this morning and will hold our comments until the authorities have fully completed their investigation. The Local Union has been in contact with several of our Roundy's Union Stewards and Kroger Corporate Management in Cincinnati, Ohio throughout the evening about the situation, and with respect to our Membership and their Families, we offer our sincere thoughts and prayers."

The Roundy’s complex employs close to 1,000 people, according to the Journal Sentinel. Roundy’s is a subsidiary of Cincinnati-based Kroger, which operates Pick ’n Save and Metro Market stores in Wisconsin and Mariano’s grocery stores in northern Illinois.
