3 Arrested In Connection With 2 Car Thefts In Waukesha County

WAUKESHA, WI— The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office was involved in two separate events with pursuits of stolen cars on Wednesday morning, according to the sheriff's office.

A total of three people were arrested in connection to the two incidents.

At 12:05 a.m. three deputies from the Sheriff's Office assisted Wisconsin State Patrol as they were pursuing a stolen car out of Illinois. The Wisconsin State Patrol deployed tire deflation devices and sheriff deputies helped take the driver into custody, the sheriff's office said.

At 4:17 a.m., the Town of Oconomowoc Police Department was dispatched to a car theft in progress. The caller was warming up their car in the driveway when it was stolen, the sheriff's office said.

A deputy with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office saw the stolen car traveling Eastbound on State Highway 16 and tried to do a traffic stop. The car didn't pull over for police, the sheriff's office said.

The car continued Eastbound on 1-94 to Highway 100, where the suspect car struck the median wall. The two people in the car fled on foot. Both suspects were taken into custody in the immediate area without incident. Charges for fleeing and eluding will be referred to the District Attorney's Office, the sheriff's office said.
