76 Animals Displaced From Hurricane Ida Arrive In Waukesha
The animals will be placed up for adoption locally in the coming days after medical evaluations.
WAUKESHA, WIβThe Humane Animal Welfare Society welcomed 76 pets that were displaced due to Hurricane Ida, according to HAWS.
HAWS partnered with Wings of Rescue for a life-saving airlift of the animals. They arrived at Crites Field in Waukesha on Tuesday afternoon.
The animals will be assisted by HAWS and local partner shelters such as Elmbrook Humane Society, the Humane Society of Sheboygan County, and the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin.

These pets, which have all been cleared for adoption and are not identified as lost, are being flown to safety in order to clear space and resources in areas particularly hard hit by Hurricane Ida, which passed through Mississippi and Louisiana, HAWS said.
Because these animals were already available for adoption at the shelters in those southern states, they will be placed up for adoption locally in the coming days after medical evaluations and any needed treatment.
