Aly Raisman WCTC Event Postponed Because Of Scheduling Conflict
Raisman uses her platform to promote body positivity, encouraging people to be comfortable in their own skin.

PEWAUKEE, WI β An event Wednesday featuring gymnast and Olympic gold medal winner Aly Raisman has been postponed until Dec. 7 because of a scheduling conflict, Waukesha County Technical College announced.
The event is part of the college's speaker series, which brings speakers to campus to share inspiring personal stories and triumphs, according to a college news release.
America's second-most-decorated female Olympic gymnast, Raisman served as the team captain of the gold medal-winning U.S. Women's Gymnastics teams in 2012 and 2016. At the 2012 Games, she was the first American gymnast to win gold in the floor exercise, and at the 2016 Games, she earned a silver medal in the all-around competition.

Raisman's message will be about more than just athletic triumph. According to the school, the 27-year-old Raisman uses her platform to promote body positivity, encouraging people to be comfortable in their own skin. Additionally, Raisman is a sexual abuse survivor, one of hundreds of victims of former Team USA doctor Larry Nassar, who currently is serving what amounts to a life sentence in prison for his crimes.
Elite gymnasts Simone Biles, McKayla Maroney, Raisman and Maggie Nichols were scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday on the FBI's handling of the investigation of Nassar.

The hearings were spurred by a Department of Justice watchdog report in July documenting dozens of instances in which the FBI mishandled the Nassar case. The report raised serious questions about how the Justice Department and the FBI handled the case and the missteps at the FBI between the time the allegations were first reported and Nassar's arrest.
Raisman's bestselling memoir, "Fierce" β in which she shared the highs and lows of her journey, including her survival of sexual abuse β will be available for purchase at the event, though supplies are limited.
