American Flag Ripped Down In Waukesha, Residents Report

Two incidents were called into police on Wednesday regarding flags being taken down.

WAUKESHA, WI— Waukesha Police responded to two reports of the American flag being tampered with on Wednesday.

The first incident was reported in the 1500 block of Rockridge Way. A man came onto the caller's property and attempted to rip down the flag, according to the police report.

The caller said a neighbor alerted him to a car parked in front of his home. A person was seen walking around the yard and attempting to take their flag. The incident was not caught on camera, the report said.

Also on Wednesday, a caller reported criminal damage to his property in the 1800 block of Santa Barbara Drive. The caller said his American flag had been pulled down and thrown on the front lawn twice the previous week, according to the police report.

While the flag wasn't damaged, the caller, who is a veteran, said he was "hurt by whom ever is doing this and removing his flag from its post holder," the report said.
