Officials debated how viable the retail component will be and what might replace it if no tenant emerges, signaling future discussions that could shape the project and neighborhood feel.
   

2. Fire destroys Waukesha home; one person hurt (gmtoday.com) — A Waukesha home on Lombardi Way was heavily damaged by fire Thursday morning, sending one resident to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries but sparing all occupants’ lives. Fire and police quickly brought the blaze under control and are using the incident to remind Waukesha residents about safe holiday cooking and the importance of evacuating and staying out during a fire.
   

3. Threat called into Waukesha County Courthouse, 17-year-old arrested (fox6now.com) — Law enforcement locked down the Waukesha County Justice Center Friday evening after a caller claimed he was outside the courthouse with a gun and intended to shoot a deputy. No armed person was found at the scene, and a 17-year-old from Milwaukee was later arrested in that city on suspicion of swatting, making terrorist threats, and felony bail jumping.
