A teacher saw the incident and alerted staff at nearby Lowell Elementary School at dropoff time and North High School as students were in class, police said.

Waukesha North was placed on "secure" status, which meant no students or staff were allowed outside and all outside doors were locked, police said. It's unclear whether Lowell also went into lockdown or when North High lifted its alert.
