Convenience Store Clerk Killer Faces Fate This Week

Allegations against fire chief expected to be made public this week. Plus, check out area events happening this week.

Billy Ingram, 21, will learn Thursday if he will spend the rest of his life in prison for gunning down gas station clerk Nayyer Rana on May 29, 2012.

A jury found Ingram guilty in June of killing Rana in a robbery at the Broadway Petro Mart. Rana was working at the gas station to learn the trade because he hoped to one day open his own store. He never had that chance after being shot three times by Ingram.

Rana, a U.S. citizen who immigrated to the country from Pakistan, was working hard to provide a better life for his children.

Fire Chief Complaint: The City of Waukesha is expected to release the formal complaint filed by City Administrator Ed Henschel and Mayor Jeff Scrima against Fire Chief Jesse Alba. Henschel asked Alba to resign three times but Alba is fighting allegations that he violated city policies before he was named fire chief in May.

The City of Waukesha is asking the Finance Committee to approve spending $250 for local attorney Stan Riffle to act as special counsel for the city’s disciplinary case against the fire chief. The city attorney’s office represents the Police and Fire Commission, which will hear the case against Alba, so it can not also represent the city leaders bringing the complaint forward. The Finance Committee will take up the request at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
