County Supervisor Recovering From Waukesha Parade Injuries
County Supervisor Bill Mitchell was hurt while participating in the Waukesha Christmas parade on Nov. 21.
WAUKESHA, WI — A Waukesha County supervisor is recovering after being injured during the Waukesha Christmas parade on Nov. 21.
Bill Mitchell was walking in the parade with the Catholic Community of Waukesha when he was struck by an SUV that had broken through barricades into the parade, according to a GoFundMe set up for Mitchell.
He has eight fractured ribs, a broken finger and bruising, the GoFundMe said.

"Through this challenge, I found out what a caring community we live in. I am thankful for all my friends and family including my County Board family," Mitchell said in an email sent to Patch.
Darrell Brooks Jr., 39, was charged with six counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the incident. He is accused of driving the SUV through Waukesha's Christmas parade, which resulted in the deaths of at least six people and injuries to more than 60 others.
