Update: Deputy Injured, Transported To Hospital In I-94 Crash
Authorities said they arrested an impaired driver who struck a Waukesha County Sheriff deputy's squad on I-94 Friday morning.
WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — A Waukesha County Sheriff's deputy has been transported to the hospital with serious injuries after authorities said an impaired driver slammed into her parked squad vehicle Friday morning on I-94 as she was monitoring traffic.
According to the Waukesha County Sheriff's office, at just before 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, a deputy was monitoring traffic inside her squad when she was struck while parked in the median of I-94, west of the Milwaukee County line in City of Brookfield.
The crash caused several lanes to be shut down on I-94.

Authorities say the deputy and driver of the striking vehicle were transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the crash.
In a late-afternoon update Friday, Sheriff’s officials said the deputy suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s office has taken one person into custody for operating while impaired - causing injury.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to our Deputy as well as the other occupant injured in the crash," Waukesha Sheriff's officials said in a statement Friday. "We would like to thank the public for their patience during the road closures of I-94."
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, backups in the eastbound lanes of I-94 were more than three miles long.
