WAUKESHA, WI — The Waukesha Police Department will host a "Day in the Park" event between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday at Grandview Park, 1001 N. Grandview Blvd., the department announced on social media.

The department thanked the Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department for the opportunity to engage with the community. If anyone would like to donate to make the end-of-the-summer event special, contact the police department.
Specialist Darrell Shaw, neighborhood engagement unit told Patch he hopes to create a series of similar, yet larger, sponsored events at each of the city’s parks next year.

"I want to use this particular event as a stepping stone. The main goal for the series as a whole will be to engage with families throughout the community in a laid back day of play, if you will," Shaw said.
This particular event will be smaller in scale and not sponsored, just a way to make the unit known and available to Waukesha citizens.
Shaw added as far as donations are concerned, any form of refreshment or giveaway would be greatly appreciated.
The City of Waukesha Police Department announced in May it wouldn't host the traditional Waukesha Night Out, previously scheduled for Aug. 4. The decision was made out of pandemic concerns and because of construction on the police station.
As part of the Waukesha Unlocked event for the city's 125th anniversary, police officers and K-9 dog Emma will be part of activities in Frame Park from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 9.
The police department will be present at Waukesha Friday Night Live events in downtown Waukesha throughout the summer.
