Driver Fled Traffic Stop, Led 3 MPH Chase And Needed Gas: Police

The driver told police they needed gas for their sister's car after a slow chase, Waukesha police logs showed.

WAUKESHA, WI β€” Waukesha police arrested a driver after they fled a traffic stop and led officers on a 3-mph chase across the southeast part of the city on Saturday, police said.

Police tried to pull over a sedan without license plates when it took off near Wisconsin Highway 164 and Blackhawk Trail around 12:27 a.m., according to police logs. Officers were waiting with stop sticks at the intersection of Highway 164 and E. Racine Avenue as the driver rolled by at 3 mph, police said.

It's not clear what happened between the driver and officers at first, but police set up their cars in case they took off again, police logs showed.
