Drunken Driver Arrested In Waukesha For 7th Offense, Police Say

A State Trooper said the driver was arrested after he was clocked driving 90 miles per hour and swerving in-and-out of his lane on I-94.

WAUKESHA, WI — Authorities in Waukesha County say they arrested a 44-year-old Wisconsin man on suspicion of his seventh drunken driving offense after a State Patrol Trooper found him driving 90 miles per hour on I-94 in Monday night's wet weather.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, Colin M. Johnson, 44, of Deforest, was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. It would be his seventh such offense, officials said.

State Patrol officials said a trooper on patrol on I-94 just after 11:30 p.m. near Delafield clocked Johnson's vehicle at about 90 miles per hour as it was swerving in-and-out of its lane in Monday evening's rain and wet conditions.

According to the State Patrol, the trooper pulled Johnson over, and arrested him on suspicion drunken driving after the trooper subjected him to standard field sobriety tests.

Johnson was transported to a local hospital for a legal blood draw before being taken to the Waukesha County Jail, authorities said.

According to the State Patrol, Johnson was cited for speeding, operating without insurance, failure to fasten seat belt, driving with a revoked license and drunken driving.
