Early-Morning Waukesha Fire; Authorities Investigating Cause

Authorities in Waukesha are asking the public to avoid the scene of an early-morning house fire as investigators try to find its cause.

WAUKESHA, WI — Authorities in Waukesha are asking Waukesha residents to avoid the scene of a house fire, as investigators try to determine the cause of an early-morning fire in Waukesha. Authorities say N. Greenfield Ave. is closed from Ellis Street to E. Broadway Ave. because of the fire investigation.

According to the Waukesha Fire Department, crews were sent to the 300 block of N. Greenfield Ave. just before 2 a.m. Monday after a concerned neighbor called, saying they could see flames in the area.

Fire officials say they responded to the fire scene and found flames coming from the second floor of the house at the top of the roof. Smoke and flames billowed from the top of the house as fire crews set up and extinguished the blaze, according to the Waukesha fire department.

Authorities say firefighters searched the home and did not find anybody inside. Fire officials said the fire was located and extinguished on the second floor and attic, with minor damage the remainder of the structure.
