Fire Breaks Out In Waukesha Furniture Store

Firefighters put out the blaze that started in the back of a furniture store in downtown Waukesha.

WAUKESHA, WI — Firefighters from the Waukesha Fire Department responded to a small fire that broke out in the heart of downtown Waukesha on Tuesday.

Fire crews found smoke coming out of the first floor of a building on N. Grand Avenue and W. Broadway, the Waukesha Fire Department said in a statement.

People inside apartments above were able to evacuate and the fire was quickly extinguished, fire officials said. It only took 20 minutes to put out the flames, which were contained to one room.

Nobody was injured or displaced by the fire, Waukesha Fire Department assistant chief Joseph Hoffman told Patch.

The first call came in at 8:05 p.m., the Waukesha Fire Department said. The fire happened at 840 N. Grand Avenue, home to Fisk Avenue Handmade Furniture.
