Flying Legends of Victory Tour Coming To Waukesha

Collection of historical military planes will be on display.

WAUKESHA, WI — The Flying Legends of Victory Tour will be at the Waukesha County Airport Tuesday through Sunday.

The tour showcases a collection of rare historical military planes, including the “Maid in the Shade” B-25 bomber. The event also provides the opportunity to take rides on the plane.

The B-25 was developed by North American Aviation and was used mainly as a low-altitude attack bomber. Nearly 10,000 B-25s were produced, and the “Maid in the Shade” is one of 34 still flying today.

The Commemorative Air Force, a nonprofit organization out of Texas that sponsors the tour, acquires, restores and preserves a collection of combat aircraft that were flown by all military services of the United States.

Group volunteers will be on site to answer questions, coordinate rides, give tours of the aircraft and sell souvenirs, among other things, the Flying Legends of Victory website said.
