HAWS Waukesha: Deer With Plastic Pumpkin Stuck On Head Rescued
The deer was freed from the plastic pumpkin with the help of HAWS staff and concerned neighbors.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI— HAWS of Waukesha Rescue Team have rescued a young deer with a bright orange plastic trick-or-treat pumpkin stuck on his head. The team began receiving calls on Friday and the deer was spotted on the North West side of Pewaukee Lake near Maple Avenue.
Neighbors kept an eye out and called HAWS when it was spotted on Tuesday. From the video posted on Haws Facebook page, you see several neighbors and HAWS staff helping the deer that was in a net.

"The handle is stuck behind his ears, so the pumpkin is basically acting as a basket muzzle on him. He can see, but he is unable to eat or drink," according to a HAWS Facebook post.
The team went out on Saturday to try and dart/tranquilize him, to remove the pumpkin.

"Bambi still has plenty of energy left - and is hanging out with a sibling who is acting as his bodyguard, keeping him from danger so far," the post said.
The deer has stayed in a heavily wooded area which was challenging for rescuers.
"Hopefully by mid-week Bambi will be tired enough and we'll get him - we'll keep you posted," the post said.
